One of the all-time favorite dish of Filipino families is Paksiw na Bangus. This Pinay recipe is tested and tasted according to Filipino standards of simple cooking. This paksiw na bangus is a good partner to hot rice and ripe bananas.
Left over paksiw na bangus can be fried and it taste good and a good breakfast meal. Fried paksiw na bangus is comparable to tinapa or smoked fish.
You can buy delicious and tasty medium sized bangus or milkfish at the freshmarket or in supermarkets. For me I prefer Dagupan bangus because they are fresh and the belly is thick and rich and fatty, but good cholesterol coming from fish.
Here is the simple paksiw na bangus recipe:
Paksiw na Bangus
1/2 kilo bangus (milkfish)
1 cup water
1 cup vinegar
1 ginger, medium size, cut into strips
1 onion, medium size, cut into strips
2 tablespoon garlic, minced
2 green long pepper
salt to taste
Procedure:
Except salt and long green pepper, put bangus(milkfish) and other ingredients together in a casserole o small sauce pan. Boil until tender and the meat of milkfish is whitish or pale white. Put some salt according to your taste. Then put long green pepper. Boil for another 3 minutes.
Your paksiw na bangus is ready! Try this Pinay recipe and I am sure you will love the delicious sour taste of paksiw na bangus.
